From the recording RIVER
A lover of old school music, it is a must that my album has some tunes that give a nod to the classic era of R&B. Truthfully you can hear it in all music in some form or another. I've always wanted to do a song with an Isley Brothers feel to it. I touched on it for the vamp of "About Love" from my first album "Love & Faith: Vol. 1" but this was more intentional. My favorite period of their music was between 1973 - 1977 so that was inspiration. I planned to send this to them and even demoed it to sound like how Ron Isley might sing. I didn't know I could imitate him. Came out pretty good too!
Once I realized I may not be able to get it to him I decided to re-interpret it they way I would sing it because it was such a beautiful song but that original demo is in my vault. Who knows? Maybe Mr. Isley may get to hear it one day.
Lyrics
Verse 1
When in love with someone
The world doesn't look quite the same
And in your heart there's a fire
That burns like an eternal flame
There are times when your mind can't conceive
All the wonders of love life can bring
Chorus
In the meantime, 'til I find
(Ohhh, Ohhh, Ohh, Ohhh)
A girl who can set me free
(Ohhh, Ohhh, Ohh, Ohhh)
And then I know what they're saying
(Ohhh, Ohhh, Ohhh, Ohhh)
Is more than just make believe
(Ohhh, Ohhh, Ohh, Ohhh)
Verse 2
There they go two lovers
Holding hands so blissfully
Wonder do they know
What's awaiting down that road of mystery
Will it be all they'd hoped it would be
Or is it filled with much misery?
Chorus (same as above)
Moog Solo
Chorus (same as above)
Verse 3
Never thought true love yeah would find its way to my front door
But there you are, so divine
I couldn't have asked for much more
You have opened my eyes to see
Just how beautiful love can be
Chorus (same as above)
