From the recording RIVER
The track has a strong 80's influence to it. Like driving in your car on a sunny afternoon. Wanted to write a song to uplift ALL women but especially my black women. This is my anthem to all the ladies out there working hard and making moves. I see you SuperStar!
The original demo was great but I always felt something may have been missing. While re-recording it for the album it hit me. Guitars! The guitars give the push, the funk and further solidifies that 80's feel. I really dig the bridge on this one!
Lyrics
Verse 1
Her hair, her nails to the clothes she wears
You can tell it all
That this chick right here is bad
From the gleam in her eye to the car she drives
You already know, that the girl's in full control
The job she works, those heels, those skirts
She wears it well and I'm not talking 'bout her clothes
It's her energy, that speaks to me and pulls me close
She's someone that I've gotta know
Chorus
You're my superstar girl, I'm hopin' you let me in your world
(Superstar Girl)
I just want you to know, that you are the star of the show
(Superstar girl)
I need you in my arms, I promise I won't do you no harm
Just let me be the one, your love and when the day is done
(Superstar girl)
Verse 2
Her bills are paid she throws no shade at the other queens
Everybody's doin' their thing
She hustles so hard, won't drop her guard for nothing less
Nothing less than what she expects
She' s been in love felt the sting of a broken heart
When everything fell apart
Took some time to regroup now she's back on the move
Ain't no stoppin now
I've gotta get back to that girls somehow
Chorus (same as above)
Bridge
(You're the one I want, I'm the one you need)
Let love rule and take the lead
(Been searching high, been looking low)
And now I've found you, I can't let you go
Chorus (until fade)
